Nathan Thompson from Dunedin's SANDOZ LAB TECHNICIANS. Dead stock from SPANISH MAGIC, release from 2006. 3 tracks. Psychedelic electronics, loops, processed instruments and computer. Every component layered, audible and creeping. Humid, grainy and progressive, hints of what may come next and retracted before saturation. Lush synthesiser patches with samples, certainly NOT wall paper or new age. Alien and charming like the standard Antipodean eccentrics exploring repetition. To contradict that point, reminds me of Tom Recchion works from this same period, but of course, a member of Sandoz is in a world of their own. Really like the third and final track 'Three Peaks', subtly chaotic and whimsical, sounds like wedding bells ominously telling you this was a bad move. A solid trip for a tenner.
